Today we went to the fish market at 6.30am! Which is 5.30am in Singapore, plus I slept really late last night ><

Everyone was really sleepy.

The pass that let us in freely as long as we didn't get in anyone's way.
There are four fish markets in Choshi, and when one refers to the Choshi fish market, one refers to all of the fish markets. We went to the smallest one (the third market) - the biggest one, the first market, was damaged by the earthquake/tsunami/typhoon, and the second market is only open on special days or when they get specific catches, I believe.

I was hoping to see the big fish… (Eugenia thought I meant hot guys, oops.)
Super duper elated! I saw not one, but nine fish! Swordfish, bluefin tuna and a sunfish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This fisherman was posing for us! How cute.

"Mm, I'm ready for my close up!"

BAM.

I was really happy.
We also met a nice fisherman who told us abut the bidding process and how they bid for the fish.
They check for the fat by looking at the cut tail of the fish.
They may also grade the fish - the swordfish we saw was grade C :x they cut off the snout of the swordfish and threw it away because it would be dangerous.
They also throw away the gills? I'm not sure which part of the fish it was, actually.
The fisherman bid about USD$7 per kg for the bluefin tuna, and it was 41kg, so he bid about USD$287. He wrote it on his note and submitted it to the counter when the auction starts - the highest bidder wins, of course. You can’t bid too much or you’d lose money, but if you bid too little, you’d lose the fish.

We were then brought to see the bidding stations.

The cameraman was still following us, which is terrifying now considering how excited and half-crazed I was.
We also saw flounder, lobster and pufferfish. The flounder had two eyes on one side and Gabriel said the other side would be white.

Can you spot its two eyes?
Mr Hazen telling us about the flounder.
A fisherman inspecting the fish and writing his bid. Notice the cameraman?
The weather that day was much colder than yesterday, and there was a lot of wind at the fish market, which made it even colder. Our hair flew everywhere. On the bus ride back to the inn, I could feel the blood/warmth rushing back to my fingers. Eugenia also opened her Pokémon croissants on the bus - she got Mega Lucario and Florges stickers.
We finally got our breakfast when we got back to the inn!
Again, everything was really good and delicious :)
Then, I was finally able to get on social media and message my anxious mum. And some anxious friends. Sorry guys!
I'm gonna leave this as part 1 since it's already gigantic. It's probably super boring to anyone who isn't interested and in awe of huge fish like me. Oops.
